Rocky Ford's Hirakata Farms celebrates the end of the 2018 season with release of Banded Oak's Hirakata Farms Crenshaw Melon IPA
Hirakata Farms grows a special row of Crenshaw melons just for the Banded Oak beer collaboration
If you had a Hirakata Farms melon this summer, you know this was one of the juiciest, sweetest and most delicious crops we've had in years. Now you can enjoy the incredible taste of Colorado summer in award-winning brewery Banded Oak's Crenshaw Melon IPA starting Friday, November 16.
Hirakata Farms in Rocky Ford teamed with Banded Oak in Denver to brew an IPA made with juice from the Rocky Ford Cantaloupe's cousin: the Crenshaw melon. The Crenshaw IPA goes on tap Friday, and there's a very limited amount, so don't wait!
Hirakata Farms plants acres of Rocky Ford Cantaloupe, honeydew and watermelon each year, but only one sweet row of Crenshaw melon. It's these specialty melons that give Banded Oak's Hirakata Farms Crenshaw Melon IPA its slightly sweet note with a noticeable spice, characteristics that perfectly compliment the flavors in the West Coast-style American IPA.
The beer will be available on tap starting Friday in just a few select locations: Banded Oak Brewing in Denver, Tap Traders in Colorado Springs, and 10th Hole Bar and Grill in Rocky Ford.
